Door opening and closing
sounds are important factors influencing the quality impression
received from a vehicle and are therefore often subject
to sound design. In order to improve the opening or closing
sound quality, Binaural
Transfer Path Analysis and Synthesis (BTPA/BTPS) can
be applied as a powerful listening-based engineering tool.

| The procedure allows for
individual auralization of door noise path contributions
originating from the latch mechanism, striker impact,
seal interaction and cavity boom, and thus reveals the
origins of unwanted noises. Furthermore, the acoustic
effect of component modifications can be predicted, and
changes can be applied that improve the overall sound
quality with respect to a given target. |
