ACQUA 3.4.100:
New version supports the EVS codec as well as Network Impairments for the MFE VIII.1
With ACQUA 3.4.100 the latest version of HEAD acoustics` powerful and versatile communication analysis system is available as of now. In addition to Windows® 10 support, there are further highlights:
EVS codec
The communication codec EVS (Enhanced Voice Services) is a fullband capable codec that was developed for VoLTE (Voice over LTE) services. EVS improves the speech and audio quality via mobile devices enormously. The HEAD acoustics implementation of this codec, Cod-EVS is now available for the use with the measurement front end MFE VIII.1 as a new option. Cod-EVS supports:
All specified audio bandwidths from narrowband to fullband
All specified bit rates / modes (7.2 - 128 kbit/s EVS primary mode, 5.9 kbit/s source-controlled VBR mode, 13.2 kbit/s channel-aware mode, 6.6 - 23.85 kbit/s AMR-WB interoperable mode)
Discontinuous Transmission (DTX)
Comfort Noise Generation (CNG)
Codec Mode Requests (CMR) in both directions
The new codec option features a static jitter buffer in contrast to the adaptive jitter buffer proposed by the EVS codec. That guarantees accurate delay conditions in decoding direction.
Network Impairments
The new option MFE VIII.1-IMP allows the simulation of different IP network impairments such as delay, jitter or packet loss directly at the signal source and to apply the network impairments to the outgoing IP packets of the MFE VIII.1. These IP channel simulations can statistical or deterministic with TCN files (Trace Control for Netem). MFE VIII.1-IMP allows the combination of TCN files with DTX. The new option attaches the impairment information to the time signal before encoding. Thus, always the same impairments are applied to the same part of the time signal regardless of the DTX state. This way, network impairments are reproducible even with activated DTX.
HHP IV Fast Mode
Now, the motorized handset positioner HHP IV MotoMount can be used in “Fast Mode”. With this new drive speed mode, individual measurement positions can be approached up to four times as fast as normal drive speed mode. The big advantage: measurement times are reduced significantly.
HHP IV: Volume setting via Bluetooth®
Since ACQUA version 3.4.100 a separate HHP IV option is available: BT-Vol HHP IV. This option allows volume setting of a clamped-in handset in a HHP IV during measurements via Bluetooth® fast and easily. Therefore, fully automated measurements can be conducted with the HHP IV MotoMount which means significant time saving.
HIB I – Headset Interface Box
In conjunction with ACQUA 3.4.100 and the measurement front end MFE VI.1, users can apply the new Headset Interface Box, HIB I. HIB I can serve as a reference front end for measuring and assessing the quality and standard compliance of headsets, headphones and the headset functionality of mobiles. The new front end is especially suited for measurements according to ITU-T P.381.
