Young man in front of a whiteboard

Duration

Three-day course
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Class size limit
Max 5 (to ensure interaction and hands‑on learning)

Price
$4000

Equip new and developing NVH engineers with the practical skills and confidence needed to turn noise and vibration data into clear, actionable engineering insights. This hands-on masterclass focuses on understanding, analyzing, and – most importantly – communicating NVH issues to team members, suppliers, and management.

Participants will learn how to move beyond “looking at plots” to telling the NVH story: what the data means, why it matters, and how it drives decisions.

Program:

  • Fundamentals of NVH thinking: from signal to perception
  • Understanding noise and vibration sources
  • Time‑domain, frequency‑domain, and order‑based analysis concepts
  • Selection and interpretation of key NVH metrics
  • Psychoacoustics fundamentals and why perception matters
  • Using HEAD acoustics tools to visualize and analyze NVH data
  • Identifying dominant contributors in complex NVH datasets
  • Correlating objective measurements with subjective impressions
  • Structuring NVH investigations: problem definition to root cause
  • Common pitfalls in NVH data interpretation
  • Communicating NVH findings to non‑NVH stakeholders
  • Building clear plots, sound examples, and summaries that resonate
  • Best practices for reporting, reviews, and design recommendations
  • Case studies: real‑world NVH problems and how they were explained
  • Hands‑on exercises with guided interpretation and discussion

Target group:

  • New NVH engineers or engineers transitioning into NVH roles
  • Test or development engineers who generate NVH data but wish to improve their interpretation and analysis skills, and better communicate results

Prerequisite:

  • Basic understanding of noise and vibration concepts
  • Familiarity with measurement data (no advanced NVH experience required)
  • Prior experience with HEAD acoustics tools is helpful but not required

Remarks:

Training material is provided as a pdf on a USB stick. Tuning results will also be provided digitally. Laptops and front ends are available for all participants.

Available at your location for 3 registrations or more.
The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 5. In this way, we guarantee each participant individual support and maximum hands-on time with the equipment.

HEAD acoustics, Inc. reserves the right to cancel a scheduled class, at least 5 business days in advance. Your method of payment will not be charged in the event of cancellation, or we will request cancellation of your purchase order.

Registration is possible up to 5 days prior, but payment must be received within 5 business days of the scheduled class.
