New Advanced Psychoacoustics Option in ACQUA 6.3.100

Understanding how humans perceive sound is essential for developing products that meet technical specifications while delivering a positive listening experience. With the new Advanced Psychoacoustics Option (ACOPT 43) in ACQUA 6.3.100, HEAD acoustics enables engineers and researchers to conduct various analyses, such as tonality, roughness, loudness, and impulsiveness, to provide an instrumental, analytical description of auditory-perceived sound quality. An example application is the evaluation of idle noise in accordance with the P.1100-1120 standard, where tonality must now be used.

ACOPT 43 provides advanced psychoacoustic analyses based on the proven Sottek Hearing Model. In this way, users can assess how disturbing unwanted sounds are to users of communication devices. 

By combining objective measurements with perception-based analysis, manufacturers gain deeper insights into the acoustic characteristics that influence the user experience. A key application is the evaluation of idle noise in accordance with the revised ITU-T P.1100 measurement procedures. 

These analyses support targeted improvements in product quality, acceptance, and overall user satisfaction. 

labCORE Options and Firmware Update 

In addition to the new psychoacoustic capabilities, ACQUA 6.3.100 further expands the HEAD acoustics ecosystem's flexibility. New labCORE options include support for the coreI/O-Dante® module for low-latency multichannel audio transmission over Ethernet, such as Spatial Audio, as well as the coreIP-WebRTC extension (requires coreIP), which enables communication with browser-based telephony applications via SIP servers where the labCORE acts as a WebRTC reference client.

The ACQUA release 6.3.100 also includes the latest labCORE firmware, which is required to fully utilize all new features and capabilities.
