A Modular Network of Independent Measurement Nodes
Professional Wireless Measurement Technology for Distributed Sound and Vibration Measurements
HEADnodes is a modular network of independent measurement nodes for spatially distributed sound and vibration measurements. The system was developed for professional measurement campaigns in which numerous measurement points must be set up efficiently, recorded synchronously, and controlled centrally. It combines continuous data acquisition with a flexible wireless architecture and a centralized measurement workflow.
Whether in an aircraft cabin, a rail vehicle, or a large-scale technical facility: HEADnodes reduces cabling effort, shortens setup times, and provides greater flexibility in positioning measurement points.
An Easy Approach to Distributed Measurements
When the Measurement Setup Becomes the Real Challenge
The larger the object being measured and the more measurement points required, the more challenging it often becomes—not the measurement itself, but its practical implementation.
Long cable runs, complex installations, and time-consuming setup times complicate the installation of traditional measurement systems and reduce flexibility during the measurement campaign.
HEADnodes takes a different approach: data transmission and control are wireless. This allows the measurement system to be flexibly adapted to different applications and set up much more efficiently - especially in situations where conventional measurement systems reach their limits.
Designed for professional measurement campaigns
Wireless—without compromising data quality
Many wireless sensor networks were developed for long-term monitoring. Their focus is on low power consumption, short-term or event-based data acquisition, and local data reduction. Professional sound and vibration measurements, however, have different requirements.
HEADnodes was specifically developed for temporary measurement campaigns with high data quality requirements. The system supports continuous, synchronized raw data acquisition at high sampling rates, combines local and centralized data storage, and enables an end-to-end workflow - from installation to data analysis.

ACQ-NODE
The Measurement Node
The 1-channel Acq-Node brings sound and vibration measurements directly to the measurement site: ICP and IEPE sensors can be flexibly connected via the analog input with a switchable ICP power supply. Continuous data acquisition and local buffering provide the foundation for precise, efficient, and high-quality multipoint measurements.

BAT-NODE
Power Supply
The Bat-Node reliably supplies power to Acq- and Cen-Nodes and enables the system to operate completely standalone. Smart batteries establish a mesh network and enable long standby times of approximately 500 hours in sleep mode. Two battery capacities, along with the integrated charging and transport concept, provide additional flexibility for mobile use.

Designed for a variety of measurement tasks
HEADnodes supports sound and vibration measurements wherever signals need to be captured simultaneously at multiple spatially distributed locations.

Cabin Noise
Efficient multipoint measurements for evaluating acoustic comfort and comparing different measurement positions—for example, in aircraft cabins, rail vehicles, or ships.

Speech Intelligibility
Evaluation of passenger announcements, emergency announcements, and public address systems using flexibly distributed measurement points - for example, for STIPA measurements in vehicles, buildings, or public areas.

Vibration Measurements
Distributed measurements on bridges, structural frameworks, machinery, or industrial plants to investigate structural-dynamic properties under real operating conditions.

Acoustic System Analyses
Parallel measurements on HVAC systems, technical installations, buildings or test benches for analyzing acoustic properties and comparing different measurement positions. HEADnodes also enable efficient and flexible data acquisition in the automotive sector, such as for wireless measurement setups in wind tunnels.
