Automotive Audio Testing: MDAQS vs. 6-mic array (free online seminar)

An overall satisfying user experience arguably has become an essential selling point of modern vehicles – more so than MPG, MPHs, and power. The sound system's audio quality, in particular, is contributing increasingly to meeting this need.

As recently as 2020, it was observed that there is no consensus in the world of automotive audio on how an audio system should be measured.

Generally, testing and tuning automotive audio systems has relied heavily on frequency response measurements using a 6-mic array (sometimes referred to as a Xmas tree), which arguably are a vital sound quality indicator. However, the frequency response tells us only a part of the whole story. So, what more is there to sound quality perception?

In this seminar, we present binaural measurements that are analyzed using traditional and modern MOS metrics, and compare them to traditional measurements taken using a 6-mic array. We will examine the performance of several vehicle audio systems in terms of both frequency response and MDAQS, elaborating on how MDAQS helps you measure more accurate indicators for audio playback performance than frequency response measurements.

We don't judge your taste in music – we evaluate the audio playback performance of your device.
